MACCLESFIELD AND DISTRICT YOUNG STROKE SOCIETY

About Us

In April 2005 MADYSS was developed from the Stroke Association’s Family Support Unit at Macclesfield Hospital by a group of younger stroke survivors and their carers from within the borough of Macclesfield and its Districts.
The group meets within a framework of mutual support and has a varied social and informative base.
Each stroke and each individual’s response to their new circumstances are unique and the journey back to optimum health is often exceedingly difficult; but with the right attitude, motivation, together with a fun environment and support from others who know the challenges and frustrations, we believe rehabilitation is possible.

We have  about 45 members at November 07, and the average age is currently 48 years, but our  age range is 32 to 65 years. (Secretly…..we do have a few  members in excess of 65 years…….although you wouldn’t know it!)
.......................................

Membership: The Society is open to any stroke survivor and their carer who lives within the Borough of Macclesfield and who is below  retirement age (currently 65 years) and is essentially “Young at Heart”.
However, age is no bar to membership and exceptions can be made for those above retirement age and for those who don’t reside within the Borough. These exceptions are approved by the Committee.
